Psoriasis is a skin disease that causes red, itchy, scaly patches, usually on the elbows, knees, trunk and scalp.

The only treatments available are medications providing limited improvement, and risking numerous side effects.

The immune system’s job is to protect you against invading organisms that might make you sick. If it is working well, you feel great. If it doesn’t, you get the flu or something else.

An autoimmune disease such as psoriasis is a disease where a hyperactive immune system attacks normal cells thinking they are foreign organisms.

So what happens to make the body's immune system turn on itself? Looking through the functional medicine lens, we have found that a number of lifestyle factors have a tremendous effect on the immune system and how it reacts.

In simple terms, the immune system must be kept calm, happy, and functioning properly so that it doesn't become confused. We do this by eliminating stress, providing good nutrition, and eliminating toxicity. By making these changes, my clients have said goodbye to psoriasis forever.

Finding the triggers that cause the immune system to become confused and attack itself is the key to conquering and eliminating this disease. That is what we do at The Wellness Place
