Resistance to antibiotics is becoming a major health problem in the world and few new antibiotics are being created. Thousands of people will die this year due to resistance to antibiotics and doctors are helpless to do anything about it.
Consequently, the FDA has turned to the 100 year old science of phage therapy, the use of bacteriophages that seek out and kill resistant bacteria wherever they are in the body.
Bacteriophages have been used successfully in Russia, Poland, the Republic of Georgia and other European countries for many years to treat difficult bacterial infections.
Phages are not allowed to be mailed into this country, only Canada and the UK. You must go there or have someone bring them to you. Clinical trials are being given at San Diego Hospital under a plan called IPATH, but only to end stage patients with one bacteria.
If you have a chronic infection of any kind for which you are constantly being given oral or intravenous antibiotics, this is a viable option to eradicate the infection. As you know, antibiotics are very hard on digestion and cause kidney damage, something about which you don't have to be concerned when using phage therapy.
